We are a group of family members of offenders (partners, parents, brothers, sisters, children), who are here for one other who have been devastated by the knock.
We are based in the UK and are not-for-profit. As well as helping families of those who have offended, get through this very traumatic unexpected life-event, we also campaign to highlight injustices that we experience as a result of ‘The Knock’.
The exponential rise in the number of people (97% being men), being arrested for technologically assisted non-contact sexual offences against children is reaching epidemic levels. These crimes typically include accessing indecent images of children (iioc), voyeurism and sexual communication online with a someone under the age of 18.
In 2009/10 there were 417 total arrests in the UK for these types of crimes. Whereas, in 2020/21 this had jumped to 850 arrests per month.
Children are present around 35% of the time. Severe PTSD is commonplace for these family members. To such as extent as to cause immune long-term damage. The enormity of impacts on family members including children is being recognised by the government, social services and society.
We also aim to raise awareness for the reasons that these crimes are exponentially increasing. No one can understand the full complexities of how this crime affects innocent family members unless they’ve walked in their shoes. Everyone else can only rely on their intellectual understanding which is often limited by faulty thinking and out-dated stereotyping. By tackling the causes of this crime, we can help reduce it today, to prevent it tomorrow.
We are Stronger Together.
